405 Freeway Closed when Man Dies in Hit and Run

In the early hours of the morning a man was fatally injured on the 405 freeway. At 2:30am on June 26th witnesses reported to the California Highway Patrol that a man with a possible mental problems was seen walking on the shoulder of the 405 freeway near Getty Center Drive. According to this article, investigators at the scene said that the man was hit by possibly two vehicles that immediately fled the scene. The unidentified man died on the scene from blunt force trauma from the pedestrian hit and run accident.

The 405 Freeway was completely closed for 5 hours as the coroner collected the man’s remains. Detectives combed the scene of the crime to collect evidence until dawn. No suspects have been apprehended in the incident but an ongoing investigation is underway.

As a personal injury lawyer in Los Angeles, I advise all clients to remain vigilant of pedestrians in even the most unlikely of places. Hit and run fatalities are a serious crime and often followed up in civil trial with a wrongful death lawsuit in the state of California.
